Donation to Dr. Thomas Abrams at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute

The Francelo Lazaro Charitable Foundation (FLCF) has recently donated $1000 to Dr. Thomas Abrams' cancer research fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in honor of Francisca and Marcelo Lazaro.

Dr. Abrams served as the oncologist for our mother during her courageous fight against colon cancer. He showed great kindness and compassion to her throughout this challenging period. The Lazaro Family is profoundly grateful for the care he provided, which is why the Foundation wishes to support his research, enabling him to continue offering care to those in need.

Dr. Thomas Abrams is a medical oncologist who specializes in treating gastrointestinal cancers including liver cancer, colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, biliary tract cancer, and many others. He is the Director of the Liver Cancer Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School.

The Liver Cancer Center at Dana-Farber Cancer is dedicated to treating primary and secondary liver cancer while conducting innovative research and clinical trials to develop promising new treatments for patients. Dr. Abrams’ and his team focus on numerous studies, including the world's largest liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) prevention study which aims to better understand who is at greatest risk for developing liver cancer. This revolutionary study is a key component of the Liver Cancer Center and exemplifies the team's commitment to better understanding the most complex challenges associated with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of liver cancer.

Philanthropic support enables Dr. Abrams and his colleagues to conduct innovative clinical research, which is difficult to fund through grants.
